— Where Music Meets Motivation
Lovder psychology lab
What we do
Led by Lovder co-founder, Ayre Clara Adler, the Lovder Lab studies student motivation, pop culture, and music education to understand how these factors shape learning and engagement. Our research explores how students’ interests, media exposure, and involvement in music influence attention, motivation, and academic outcomes.
By identifying what drives engagement, we aim to provide insights that inform evidence-based teaching strategies and help educators create more motivating and effective learning environments.

Perfect pitch
We’re exploring how different levels of music experience, from casual players to professional musicians, relate to learning, academic skills, and even family life. We look at things like perfect pitch, musical performance, and school performance.
If you have perfect pitch, whether you play for fun or professionally, we’d love to hear from you!

Pop culture
At the Lovder Lab, we study how children and teens learn—and how music and pop culture can energize their motivation. Through interviews and large-scale surveys conducted across North America and East Asia, our early findings show a clear trend: integrating familiar cultural elements into lessons boosts student interest and engagement.
We’re now expanding this work to better understand how culture, attention, and motivation interact across different learning environments.
